Its official. I’ve actually SOLD something out of the car collection. My ’91 Crown Vic, Ex-Nash Bridges SFPD car is now back in CA at its new home. I’m horrible at letting things go. (Which is why I dont have any space in the garage to actually work on anything.) And it was a little bit depressing to see it dissappear into the darkness Thursday night on the back of the trailer. But its going to a good home with friends of mine. And it will probably get to work in TV and the movies again as they tend to do a good amount of production work. As silly as it sounds, I’m a but sad to see it go. (There are perks to owning a fully equipped Cop car. You dont get cut off in traffic. Ever.) Its time to move on though, and the funds from the sale will get put back into one of the other cars in the garage. The ultimate goal is to have everything in the garage running. Which I know will take a while to do. But I need to thin things down a bit and focus on the ones that are important.
Still alive.
I’m still around, so you all can stop trying to divide up my stuff.
Trust me, its all broken right now so you probably wouldnt want it anyways.
Its been a seriously draining few weeks for me at work, so updates here might be either less then frequent, or less than funny. (Not that I’m assuming I’m acutally funny. Just saying the odds of me even being accidentally funny right now are slim) Hopefully I can get back to semi-normal over the next couple of weeks and start posting more frequently. Until then. Try my links. Most of them were imported fresh for your enjoyment. And some of them are even funny.
Past my nap time.
For anyone still watching this blog on a semi regular basis, I’ve been slacking. Sadly, I’ve not been slacking in any other area of my life. In fact, everything else has been so hectic that I’ve been on auto pilot for a while. Work has gotten insane. In fact, its gotten busy to the point where I’m seriously in need of a proper vacation somewhere. Somewhere nice with a beach and a cool breeze off of the coast, and little fruity drinks that have their own umbrellas. Sadly, that’s not likely to happen anytime this year. So I nap when I can, and try to keep my To-Do lists manageable. There have been days where even that isn’t working at all. So I’ve been slacking in the only area that I can without actually screwing anything up. Here on the blog. Sad but true. While my little rants here may occasionally be amusing, they are entirely optional. And of late, I’ve just had nothing left to put here.
Insert Witty title here.
Its been a while since I posted last. The good news is that nothing horrible has happened to prevent me from posting. The bad news is I just havent had anything I wanted to post about. I’ve been too busy with work and other projects to do much here. Havent even really run into too much amusing these days. (Its sad when you are tired enough that the amusing stuff just gets annoying.)
At home, there are alot of “Stills”. Still working on the garage, still working on the trains, and still working on the new ’59. Maybe someday I’ll even get those projects finished. Pretty much I’m just tired of late. More stuff, less time to do it in, and less energy to do it with. I need a vacation.
Quick Update.
Just a few quick notes to update anyone that might actually care.
1. The Newest ’59 Hearse. (the shiny one in the photos below) is now resting gently at the repair shop. She is in for a brake job and some other assorted little things. (removing the bad gas from the fuel system and getting her running properly again among them) Hopefully soon she will be home again. The ultimate goal is to drive the wheels off of her while we work on the other projects.
2. Other projects. Currently the ’60 Ambulance is a bit under the weather. Seems to be slipped timing belt, which is looking as if it will be a major ordeal to replace. (There is also the worry that there are other things wrong.) We are evaluating the possibility of a motor transplant. More to come. We hope to have her back on the road in the next month or so. Too much fun to NOT be able to drive.
Fins for the New Year.
End of the year updates.
Well, 2005 is drawing to a close, in a few short hours the year will be over and gone..
Since Jan 1. I’ve managed to do alot of things that I wanted to get done, and also managed to miss doing some things that I had hoped to do. But overall I’m good with how the year has turned out. Its been long and painful in spots, and its rushed by in a blur other times. Its been good, and occasionally its been pretty rough.. Its never been dull, and occasionally been a little more exciting than I’d like. But its been another year.
Regardless of the stuff and the lists and the difficulties and dissapointments and the random life things that seem to crop up every year. I’ve managed to remain happy and healthy and surrounded by people that I care about very deeply. And because of that, I figure 2005 was pretty decent overall. I have no specific plans for 2006 other than enjoying life as much as I can, enjoying the time I have with the people that I love and care about, and relaxing enough that I actually have time to do both of those things.
Hopefully your new year will be happy, healthy, and enjoyable.
Eh. Just Eh.
I’ve been told on occasion that I always look for the tragedy in everything. I’ve been told that I focus on the negative and totally miss the positive things that are out there. I suppose I do sometimes. Seems to be easier then getting your hopes up and being crushed when things dont work out. If you look for the downside, if something good does happen, it ends up being a nice surprise. Which I suppose is a roundabout way of pre-apologizing for this entry, which seems to be shaping up as a focus on the negatives.
So without further ado….
Regular or Extra Crispy..
Apparently I’m burnt out.
Not burnt out on a specific thing in my life. Apparently I’m just burnt out on everything. (Which I suppose was alot clearer to anyone that actually read my last post here, than it was to me.) Ok, So I’m a little slow sometimes.. Big deal. Its so easy to blame things totally on outside influences. Been a full moon this week, other people are stupid and rude, etc, etc. Which, while being entirely true statements, just doesnt quite explain ME. What does the full moon have to do with me? Zip. People are always stupid and rude, why is it getting to me now? While all of those things are external influences, I’ve LET them get to me. I’ve let them wear me down to the point where I’m not defending against all the stupid out there. And once they start getting to you, it just builds and builds. Seems as if everyone noticed it but me. I’m apparently just tired, and I need a break. Co-Workers noticed it, and they are as burnt as I am. (I noticed they were flaming out, but couldnt see I was as well. Nifty.) Even the Dog has been extra clingy in the last few weeks. You know, that unswerving, “Its Ok, I’m here for you, and regardless of what happens, or how big a jerk you end up being this week, I still care.” sort of dog attention. Which is really nice at the end of a long day.
Garage Musings.
Been working out in the garage for the last several days in between work and other responsibilities. We are really banging hard on the Ambulance to get it ready for the meet this summer. (Denver should be a nice getaway in August I’m thinking) In between car projects, I’ve been cleaning and organizing things a bit out there as well. (You’d think with 3600 Square feet of garage I’d have room for everything, but it never seems to work out that way.) I have been making progress though. I have probably 75% of the space organized at this point, and I’m working through my “Garage To-Do list”. Which has the added benefit of giving me more room to work on car projects. 3 different workbenches, all with proper work lighting and abundant electrical. A good amount of storage scattered around the garage, and a ton of random parts. You can never have enough parts it seems. In addition to the ambulance parts that have been trickling in over the past several weeks. (And the next few weeks as well.) I’ve been collecting some parts for some of the other cars out there. I also managed to get my speakers mounted and wired up properly out there. (Technomad Vienna 16′s on Commercial Mounts bolted to the steel support posts.) Much better imaging with the speakers mounted properly. I can now really fill the space with sound if I want to. Makes working so much more pleasant when you have something to listen to other than the droning of power tools.
In no particular order, here are some of the car and garage projects I have on the short list.
