This is a couple of days late. So deal with it.
After a couple of days of digging, and way too much concrete, we finally have our latest Home Show purchase planted in the front yard.
In a fitting burst of Irony, This cactus was made by the “Desert Steel Co.” of Wichita, KS.
Its 11′ tall with 2 reasonable sized arms. (In case you havent looked at the photo yet.) Its made of sheet steel, formed and welded into a pretty darn accurate 3D Cacti. Even being the natural steel color, its pretty darn real looking at first glance. From the end of the driveway, it looks like we transplanted a big old cactus out there. You actually have to get up closer to see its not real. The beauty here, is I don’t have to water this one, and it wont run the risk of dying due to a transplant. (Which is a problem with transplanting real ones. Especially ones this size.) Not to mention this steel one was ALOT less expensive than a similiar sized real one.
We also have a little steel Barrel Cactus to go with it. Once we get it staked down, I’ll add more photos.
Steel or not, you dont want to slam into this one any more than a real one. This one heats up, and it does have spiny little welds..
Dont ask me how I know.
